Students offered chance to study in Israel

On A Level results day, students are being urged not to overlook Israel.

As thousands get their results and find out where they’ll be going next in life, one organisation is reminding students their options remain open.

Whilst spending a year in Israel before university is a commonplace, many will not have considered the option of undergraduate study in Israel – but a number of Israel’s top institutions offer Undergraduate degrees in English.

Budding scientists, engineers, architects and doctors can find opportunities at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. It offers BSc courses in civil engineering and in mechanical engineering, both taught in English. It also has an outstanding international medical school with English study options.

It is supported by Technion UK, the UK’s leading charity promoting education in Israel. Alan Aziz, CEO of Technion UK encouraged students to consider the option, saying: ‘Studying in Israel offers a unique opportunity to learn from a thriving culture of innovation.  The results speak for themselves – it’s remarkable that a quarter of graduates from the Technion go on to found their own start-up businesses.  For students with entrepreneurial ambitions, university study in Israel and in particular at Technion could be an ideal fit”

Yavneh head welcomes ‘amazing’ results

Yavneh’s Executive Headteacher,  Spencer Lewis welcomed the School’s results saying: ‘We are delighted with these A Level results which include an amazing 54% of grades at A* or A which is an incredible achievement. I am particularly pleased that these results match and in some ways even improve on last year’s fantastic results, as A Level examinations have become even harder over the last few years.

In particular, the fact that 30.1% of all A-Level students this year gained all A or A* grades is a wonderful achievement.

This goes together with an outstanding set of vocational results through our very popular BTec courses where the vast majority of students have achieved Disctinion*.

It is a tribute to our very hard working, dedicated students that these are such remarkable results. They have of course. benefited from outstanding teaching from a remarkable team of teachers who should be equally as proud of these results.’

Yavneh College in Borehamwood are celebrating record success with A-Level results this year.

The school recorded 55 percent of grades at A* to A, with 30 percent of students gaining all of their grades at that level.

Executive Headteacher, Mr Andrew McClusky said: “We are delighted that our students have coped so well with the challenging A level specifications this year.  Our BTEC and EPQ results are also very pleasing indeed. I am grateful to the teachers who prepared them so well, and to all of our staff who support our students in countless ways. We are exceptionally proud of our students’ academic achievements as well as their wonderful work for charities and tremendous commitment to Jewish learning.”

Head of Hasmonean Boys’ School and Acting Head of Hasmonean Girls’ school, Mrs Debbie Lebrett, said: “We are especially delighted by the progress students have made both academically and personally during their time at Hasmonean. We know that in future years the whole community will benefit from their success. Our thanks go to each and every member of staff who have made a difference to their lives.”

Hasmonean High School is celebrating a 99% pass rate, with 17% A*, and 44% A*-A.

The school welcomed a high number of students acheiving a top grade, with Natan Maurer, who secured a place to study Law at Cambridge with 4 A*s commenting: “I am incredibly pleased with these results, which I could not have achieved without the help of the network of teachers both inside and outside lessons, and the support of fellow students within Hasmonean. The leadership of the school has created an environment in which I and many others are able to reach their full potential.”

Yonina Jaffe secured a place to study Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge with 3 A*s, and said: “I am thrilled with my results and so grateful for all the support of my school and teachers! Hasmonean gave me the confidence to make a real go at sciences and I’m excited to continue this at the next stage in university.”

King Solomon celebrates 94 percent pass rate

Kantor King Solomon High School welcomed this year’s A-Level results, which featured 83% of grades being at A*-C and 50% A*-A.

Hannele Reece, Headteacher said “We are delighted for all our students, and we wish them well as they take their next steps, we are incredibly proud of all our students.”

Students brought ‘light and honour’ to school – JFS head

Rachel Fink, JFS Headteacher and Anthony Flack, Head of Sixth Form, commented on the school’s outstanding results, saying: “We would like to congratulate all our students on their achievements both in A level and vocational courses.  In the first year of the new, more challenging linear A levels, our students have demonstrated that they have the ability and tenacity to meet the higher standard now demanded of sixth formers across the country. Reflecting the JFS motto, they have brought light and honour to themselves and the school community. We are immensely grateful to our dedicated staff who guided them through the past two years, both academically and pastorally and to our parents who offered so much support.  We wish all our graduates successful and happy futures in whichever path they choose.”

JFS celebrates as nearly 50% of grades at A* and A

Europe’s largest Jewish secondary school has marked a year of outstanding results, with nearly 50% of all grades at A*-A and over 75% A*-B. Eight students  secured places for Oxford or Cambridge Universities, while two will be going to Medical School and one to study veterinary medicine.

JCoSS headteacher welcomes outstanding results

JCoSS have announced their second full set of A Level Results, with 38% of grades being either A* or A, and 67% at Grade B or above.

Seven students who were holding offers for Oxford and Cambridge or Medical School have also received the grades to take up their places, while 24 students scored all A/A* grades and/or Distinction/Distinction* across all their subjects.

JCoSS Headteacher Patrick Moriarty has welcomed the school’s A-Level results, saying: ‘We are delighted by another set of excellent results – the 2^nd whole cohort in our collection.  Both academic and vocational outcomes are testament to the exceptional hard work and dedication of staff and students alike, who were tackling new and demanding specifications in many subjects.

‘We are proud not only of the academic accomplishments of our students but of the qualities that have grown in them during their time at JCoSS.  They leave as accomplished Mensches, embodying the values of the school and the wider community, and ready to act as ambassadors for both as they step forward on the next phase of their journey.’

Immanuel College headteacher welcomes 2018 A-Level results: “We are delighted with this year’s A level results at Immanuel College which are even better than last year’s, despite the fact that the examinations have been made more rigorous and demanding as a consequence of government reforms. I would like to congratulate the students – and their teachers – who have worked so hard to achieve these magnificent grades which are thoroughly deserved. “

Almost a quarter of all A-Level grades at Immanuel College have been marked as A* in a bar-raising first set of results from Jewish schools on Thursday.

Over half of all Immanuel students achieved the coveted top mark in one of their exams and a quarter registered not less than an A-grade in all their exams.

News of the success left the private college’s new leadership team swooning. Both headmaster Gary Griffin and deputy head Barnaby Nemko have been at Immanuel for less than a year, and Griffin said he was “delighted” that the results were “even better than last year, despite the exams having been made more rigorous and demanding as a consequence of government reforms”.

Four Immanuel students will now be attending American universities and two – Alex Root and Jeremy Schiff – will go on to study Natural Sciences at the prestigious University of Cambridge.

Griffin added: “I would like to congratulate the students and their teachers who have worked so hard to achieve these magnificent grades which are thoroughly deserved.”
